High Resolution Textures

Requirements

For high-resolution textures you need at least MH's Kingpin Patch version 10 or later.

MH's patch supports loading high-resolution images and models from a HIRES subdirectory (for example Kingpin\main\hires\) without replacing the original game files. Hi-res content can be enabled or disabled through the Hires Files option in the Visuals menu or by using the r_hires console variable.

A computer with specifications above the original Kingpin system requirements is recommended.

Texture Sources

There are two main ways to obtain high-resolution assets:

• Community-made texture packs.
• Extracting textures from Kingpin Reloaded.

Both methods use the same installation directory:

Community Textures Packs

Install the following packs:

Package	Description
Upscaled Kingpin Skies	High-resolution sky textures.
High Sprites Pack 4x	High-resolution sprite textures.
High Texture Pack 4x	High-resolution world and map textures.
High Skin Pack 4x	High-resolution player and model skins.

Kingpin Reloaded Textures

As an alternative to the community texture packs, textures can be extracted from Kingpin Reloaded.

Requirements:

• Kingpin Reloaded
• AssetRipper

Steps:

1. Open AssetRipper.
2. Load the folder:

   ...\Kingpin Reloaded\Reloaded_SP_Data\

3. Click View Loaded Files.
4. Select resources.assets.
5. Select Export → Export All Files.
6. Export the files to a temporary folder.
7. Open:

   Assets\Resources\

8. Delete everything except:
   • hdenv
   • hdmodels
   • hdpics
   • hdsprites
   • hdtextures
9. Rename the remaining folders by removing the hd prefix.
10. Delete all *.json files from the remaining folders.
11. Copy the folders to:

    Kingpin\main\hires\

Folder renaming example:

hdenv      -> env
hdmodels   -> models
hdpics     -> pics
hdsprites  -> sprites
hdtextures -> textures

After copying the folders to Kingpin\main\hires\ you can delete the temporary folder.

High Model Pack

After installing either the community texture packs or the extracted Kingpin Reloaded textures, install the High Model Pack.

The High Model Pack should always be installed last, as it may overwrite files from previously installed texture packages.
